Dear Penn State Students and Community,

The Penn State College Democrats would like to offer to you this letter of clarification concerning our role in the upcoming Primary on April 22. We would like to restate and emphasize that the Penn State College Democrats do not endorse any candidate for any office running in a contested primary. Our club has an open door policy to any Democratic candidate or surrogate, and we hope every campaign will take advantage of this opportunity. Individual club members are allowed and encouraged to participate in the campaigns of the candidates that they personally feel would best serve the Democratic Party and their respective constituencies. They do not, however, represent the organization.

In short, the Penn State College Democrats endorse the Democratic Party. We are…the party that wants to grow the economy through achieving energy independence. We are…the party that wants to make healthcare, college tuition, and driving your car affordable. We are…the party that promotes acceptance and equality in every sense of the word. By running as a Democrat, candidates pledge to uphold and carry out these basic ideals and we leave it up to Democratic primary voters to select which democratic candidate will do it best. It is essential that voters become informed about EVERY primary race and EVERY respective candidate. The College Democrats are happy to assist in this endeavor by educating and supporting every single Democratic candidate running for a contested seat in this primary. No matter which Democrat wins the State House, U.S. House, or Presidential Primary, they are the candidates that will make true progress happen in Pennsylvania and the United States, and we will support them entirely.
