Weekly Meetings are held every Monday at 7.30 pm in 101 Osmond Lab (across from the HUB) As a very open and friendly community, the club sponsors various activities throughout the year. From speakers and concerts to voter drives and social events, the Dems provide both a welcoming environment for new members and a place for political dialogue. During the 2005-2006 academic year, the dems' activities included: two club fundraisers, a letter writing campaign, a meet the candidates (for State College Borough) pizza event, a spaghetti dinner to raise money for hurricane victims (proceeds given to the Red Cross), a presentation at the Feminist Faire covering women in the democratic party and the Equal Rights Amendment, two club social events, our annual trip to the D.C Cherry Blossoms Festival in April, attending multiple Centre County Democrats' breakfasts and a dinner banquet, a press conference on academic freedom and a speaking event with Governor Ed Rendell. The club asks that members donate minimal annual or semesterly dues to help the club finance special trips and events. Dues for the 2005-2006 are $20 per full academic year/$15 per semester. Dues-paying members or full club members receive discounted or free merchandise and event tickets, including $5 off club t-shirts. Only dues-paying members are allowed to vote in club elections and other club voting items. However, people are still welcome to attend club events and be involved, even if they have not paid dues. If paying dues is a financial difficulty, please contact our treasurer privately. Join the listserve!
