Welcome Back! PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 16 January 2007

Welcome Back to everyone!  We certainly hope you all had an enjoyable and relaxing break.  We encourage everyone to keep up on the news out of Washington as the 110th Congress continues working on its First 100 Hours of legislation.

One of the College Dems projects for the Spring is THON.  We have two canning trips planned for January and February.  If you are interested in helping, feel free to contact our THON chair, Jon Richter, or President, Elena Cross.

College Dems meetings will be starting up again soon.  Meetings will still be on Monday nights, but, as this is not an election season, we plan to vary our activities.  Keep checking back for more information!

Good luck this semester.  We hope to see you at the meetings!

The First 100 Hours PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 16 January 2007
As the 110th Congress comes to power, House Democrats have an ambitious legislative package they aim to pass within their first 100 hours of work.  Measures include:  ethics reform, raising the minimum wage, implementing the 9/11 commission recommendations, and (of particular importance to students) cutting interest rates on student loans and increasing federal Pell Grants.  The College Democrats support the efforts of our colleagues on the Hill and look forward to a productive session.

Thanksgiving Break PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 15 November 2006

There will be no Dems meeting this coming Monday (11/20).  We will resume our regular meetings on the Monday after break (11/27).  Everyone is encouraged to attend that meeting and help us post-game our election activities and decide what issues to take up now that election season is over.

Please keep all of our service men and women in your thoughts over the holidays.  The College Democats wish you all a safe, happy, and very democratic Thanksgiving break!  Thanks again to everyone for all your hard work.  Enjoy the break!
